I’ve been working on learning this song. Steve Earle gets credit for the insight and courage to explain things like this to folks. After the “more” break, there are two video versions of it. The intro for the first one has nods to Cyndy Sheehan and Joan Baez. The intro for the second one talks about Mr. Earle’s sons.

Local civil rights

I came upon a blog entitled Charlottesville Prejudice Watch that piqued my interest because it sits at the junction of two concepts I track: civil rights and disabilities. Even the semi-comatose reader of my notes here is likely aware of my professional activities (e.g., EBD Blog, a source for news and information about Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, especially as they affect children and youths and their families; see other professional connections in the list of “other sites” in the blogroll) and has caught the drift that I consider ensuring civil rights and liberties to be important goals. So it should come as only a small surprise that a site discussing civil rights and disability (i.e., Charlottesville Prejudice Watch) caught my eye.

Google news errors

Here’s an image of a section of a Google News page from today. (Click it for a larger version.) In the health section, there were images for three stories that all were linked to the same page, but that page was for none of the stories. The links pointed to an item about a fourth story, one about the contamination of dog food. In this first image, I’ve circled the three relevant items. Note that the stories in the text are about (a) a triple amputee graduating from UCLA, (b) DNA and breast cancer, and (c) contact lens solution recall. Each as an appropriate image associated with it, but the links beneath the images do not match.
