No Star Wars please

In response to China’s destruction of a satellite last month, my friend Michael Krepon published a piece in the 4 February Washington Post in which he reiterates his concerns about weapons in space. Michael’s point was made clearly in his 2004 book, Cooperative Threat Reduction, Missile Defense, and the Nuclear Future (Amazon link); he examined alternative ways that US anti-satellite military operations, among other supposed methods of reducing threats to US security, would likely fail (at best) or boomerang (at worst). Let’s not go there.
