No, “Discovery Institute,” not “Direct Instruction.” news sources and advocacy groups are carrying content about Senator John McCain delivering a keynote speech at an event co-sponsored by the DI. Why is this of concern? Well, DI is well known for its advocacy of creationism, intelligent design, and the like. Senator McCain has the right, of course, to speak wherever he wishes to speak. But, if he’s afilliating with people who advocate anti-science, I’m less likely to vote for him. I share the views of this matter with many science bloggers.
