Worlds 6: Labat!

While I was preparing for my 10 AM Eastern class, Bernard Lagat won the 1500 meters race at the Worlds. In a slowly paced race, he was the first of nine guys across the finish line in < 1.2 seconds. There must’ve been a wide front of runners at that finish line!

Place Bib Name Country Time
1 1113 Bernard Lagat USA 3:34.77
2 408 Rashid Ramzi BRN 3:35.00
4 773 Shedrack Kibet Korir KEN 3:35.04
4 769 Asbel Kiprop KEN 3:35.24

Full results. Parker provided comments on Mr. Lagat’s win, Mr. Webb’s slide to eighth, etc. Philip Hersh has coverage of the event and runners’ comments; it’s accompanied by a good photo of Mr. Lagat by Mark Baker.
