As the accompanying image shows, Tom Perriello is ahead in the election to represent Virginia’s 5th District in the United States House of Representatives. I snagged these results from the Virginia State Board of Elections this morning, 5 November 2008, a little after 5:00 AM. I am very encouraged.
The results show Mr. Perriello ahead by 1657 votes. That’s a narrow margin, so I have to expect that there will be a recount. The one precinct that has not reported is from Lunenburg County. Local news sources (e.g., WMRA) are reporting slightly different numbers as of this AM. To see for yourself, go here.
To be sure, Mr. Obama’s and Mr. Warner’s elections are terrific news for me. But Mr. Perriello’s election is especially welcome.
