We’re in deep already

snow depth 22902 20091218

Tonight, the downtown mall in C’ville was sparsely populated, if not deserted. After seeing a movie and eating at one of the open restaraunts, we’ve been home for a few hours (though friends are still making their way home through what must be very difficult traffic). I went on the porch to clear preliminary paths to the bird feeders. I took a photo of a ruler in the snow on a table on the back porch.

That’s a English ruler standing on the table with only about 3″ of it still showing. The snowfall this afternoon and evening was predicted to be a lighter part of the storm. The heavy precipitation is supposed to occur during the early morning, morning, and early afternoon Saturday (tomorrow). Given that we have 9 inches already, there should be a lot by the time I arise Sat. AM.

ParaphrasIng Ed Sullivan, “It’s going to be a really big snow.”
